How Skate Live processes personal data in the app, website and related services.Last updated: July 2026
1. Introduction
Protecting privacy is important to Skate Live.
This policy explains which data may be processed when using the app and website, why it is used and which rights users have under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).
2. What Skate Live is
Skate Live is a speed skating platform that lets users view events, results, rankings, sports clubs, venues and other competition-related content.
The project is currently under active development and continuous improvement.
For any privacy-related request, users can use the contact form available in the app or on the website.
3. Data we process
Account data. If a user creates an account, Skate Live may process:
- first name and last name;
- email address;
- password, always stored in encrypted or hashed form;
- role, such as athlete, parent or other;
- any associated sports club;
- user preferences.
Profile photo. If a profile photo is uploaded, it is stored on Skate Live servers and can be removed by the user at any time.
Marketplace. To publish or manage a listing, Skate Live may process the contact person's name, email, optional phone number, location, item description, photos, visibility choices and technical security data. The management email remains private unless the user expressly chooses to display it; the phone number is displayed only at the seller's choice.
Support requests and reports. When a message is sent, Skate Live may collect name, email address, optional phone number, message content and technical information needed to manage the request or prevent abuse.
4. Sports data
Skate Live displays sports information from public sources or event organisers.
This may include:
- athlete name;
- sports club;
- category;
- membership number;
- heats;
- schedules;
- results;
- rankings;
- race times.
This data is used only for informational and sports-related purposes and is separate from personal account data.
If an athlete, parent or club believes that data is incorrect or should be updated, they can contact support to request verification.
5. Minors
Because speed skating involves many minor athletes, Skate Live pays particular attention to protecting their data.
Any registration involving a minor must be carried out by a parent or by the person holding parental responsibility.
6. Technical data
To ensure security and correct operation, the app may collect technical information such as:
- IP address;
- device type;
- operating system;
- app version;
- language;
- access date and time;
- technical logs;
- information required for service security.
This data is used only for technical, statistical and security purposes.
7. Cookies and statistics
The website may use technical cookies that are necessary for the service to function.
The website uses Google Analytics through the Google tag to collect aggregate statistics on visits and viewed pages. Advertising storage, personalisation signals and Google Signals remain disabled.
The collected data is not used for advertising profiling.
8. Maps and notifications
The app may display maps of skating venues using external mapping services.
Skate Live does not request the user's GPS location for normal app operation.
If the user chooses to enable notifications, they are used only to send requested information, such as new events, live sessions, results or updates about followed athletes.
Notifications can be disabled at any time from the device settings.
9. Why we use data
Data is processed only to:
- provide the app services;
- allow account access;
- show events, rankings and results;
- publish, moderate and let users manage Marketplace listings;
- manage support and reports;
- improve platform stability and security;
- send notifications requested by the user.
Skate Live does not sell personal data to third parties.
10. Data retention
Account data is kept until the user requests deletion or for as long as it is necessary to provide the service.
Unconfirmed Marketplace listings are deleted after 7 days. Listings under review or rejected are deleted after 180 days; sold, withdrawn or expired listings and their photos are deleted after 90 days. Used or expired tokens are deleted after 30 days. Resolved reports are kept for up to 365 days and in any event no longer than 730 days, except where required by law or for legal claims.
Sports data from public sources may be retained for historical, statistical and documentary purposes connected to sports events.
11. Account deletion
The user can delete their account at any time using the "Delete profile" function in the Athlete Area.
Deletion removes:
- account;
- credentials;
- contact details;
- profile photo;
- personal preferences.
Sports data from public sources is not part of the account and follows different retention rules.
12. Security
Skate Live adopts technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including:
- encrypted or hashed passwords;
- protected connections;
- access controls;
- system monitoring;
- security procedures.
Despite ongoing care, no IT system can guarantee absolute security.
13. User rights
Users may exercise their GDPR rights at any time, including:
- access to data;
- rectification;
- erasure;
- restriction of processing;
- objection;
- portability, where applicable;
- withdrawal of any consent given.
Requests can be sent through the contact form available in the app or on the website.
14. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated over time to reflect legal changes or the evolution of Skate Live services.
The last updated date will always be shown at the beginning of the document.
